Strategy for
long-term success
The Purpose of Webasto:
Make individual mobility more enjoyable and
sustainable by advancing technology and people.
The concise but clear purpose statement describes Webasto’s role in mobility as well as its relevance for colleagues and society. It reflects the company’s ambition to make driving more enjoyable, for example through openable roof systems and heating solutions that can increase comfort. At the same time, Webasto recognizes its responsibility to support the transition toward lower-emission mobility through technology development and continuous improvement. Advancing technology inspires, challenges, and drives us. By developing our people and considering their individual needs, we aim to create value and inspire others.
Building on a strong foundation
Throughout its 125-year history as a family-owned company, Webasto has established itself as a leading supplier in the market for roof and heating systems for decades. In 2016, the company decided not only to further strengthen this core business, but also to expand into electromobility. Since then, Webasto has built a dedicated business area focused on products for vehicle electrification, including battery and thermal management solutions.
Transformation in a challenging market environment
The automotive industry has undergone significant changes in recent years. Webasto has faced the impact of numerous challenges, including global crises, weaker and more volatile demand, intensified competition, and reduced planning certainty. In response, the company launched a restructuring program at the end of 2024 to align its capacities with changing market conditions.
In October 2025, the automotive supplier secured financing to support its ongoing transformation and strengthen its future viability. This comprehensive solution was achieved through close collaboration between management, shareholders, financial partners, and key customers. It includes the extension of existing credit lines totaling approximately 1.2 billion euros, as well as additional loans of 200 million euros.
Under the current financing agreement, Webasto is financed through the end of 2028. This provides the foundation for the company’s operational realignment. To safeguard the interests of all stakeholders, a trust model has been established. The transformation process is currently being implemented and is expected to be completed by 2028.
Our strategic priorities
Webasto’s transformation is focused on strengthening its financial foundation, concentrating on economically viable business areas, and staying closely aligned with customer needs. The company is also targeting growth opportunities in attractive markets while further improving competitiveness through leaner structures and faster execution.
“Our customers set the direction,” says Joerg Buchheim, CEO of Webasto SE. “We listen closely and provide suitable solutions. At the same time, we need to become faster, for example through lean structures and greater speed in achieving readiness for series production.”
